National Children’s Museum Welcomes Good Morning America’s Ginger Zee to Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON – National Children’s Museum, a nationally-recognized cultural and educational institution in downtown Washington, D.C., dedicated to STEAM and play-based learning, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of a new member to its board of trustees, Ginger Zee.

Bowyer, President + CEO of National Children’s Museum. “She is passionate about elevating critical science content and encouraging children and adults alike to affect real change. An advocate for increased sustainability, who has demonstrated her dedication to inspiring the next generation of scientists, Ginger will make incredible contributions to our work at the Museum.”
Ginger Zee is an Emmy and Murrow award-winning meteorologist and bestselling author. She is the chief meteorologist and managing editor of the climate unit at ABC News and has reported on nearly every major natural disaster for “Good Morning America” and across ABC News broadcasts and digital platforms. Committed to being the conduit for the latest science, and climate change research and solutions found around the world, Zee has also hosted several climate specials for ABC News Live and has a recurring climate segment called “It’s Not Too Late” on ABC News Live Prime. Additionally, she lent her voice to Dr. Zephyr Skye, the storm-chasing alien in Disney Junior’s hit show “Miles from Tomorrowland,” and is the author of five books: a trilogy STEM series for young readers, “Chasing Helicity”; the bestseller “Natural Disaster” (2017); and her recent memoir, “A Little Closer to Home: How I Found the Calm After the Storm” (2022).
Prior to joining ABC News, Zee worked for radio and television stations across the country, including WEYI NBC 25 in Flint, Michigan; WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and WMAQ-Channel 5 in Chicago, Illinois. She began her career at WLAV FM/ WXMI in Grand Rapids, Michigan and WYIN PBS Merrillville, Indiana.
Zee earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology from Valparaiso University, where she also served as an adjunct professor from 2008 to 2011. Zee also holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal for Meteorology. She resides in New York City with her husband, Ben Aaron, and two young sons.
